David Rogers has always had a passion for animals, showing dogs and horses for 32 years and grooming professionally for 9 years. Rogers owns Pet Grooming by David Rogers, located at 205 South Jefferson St. in Princeton, Ky. The business has been a part-time venture, but he is happy to announce that his business will now be opening full-time to the public.

“People know that we showed dogs and people started asking us to groom them,” Rogers told the Times Leader. “I realized it was a great need in Princeton. I am moving into full-time as the customer base grows.”

Initially, Rogers was doing boarding as well, but has since suspended this service. In celebration of opening full-time, Rogers partnered up with the Caldwell County Animal Shelter and sponsored the adoption of a lab-mix, named Sammy.

This is not the first time the two entities have partnered up, having hosted the 2024 Black Patch Festival Dog Show. Both Rogers and Caldwell County Animal Control Officer Kevin Lane are already planning ahead for 2025. In total, funds raised for the shelter were just under $1,000, and Lane said he is grateful for the contribution.

Rogers has had his business open since 2015 and has been inspired since early on. He has owned the property for some time, once operating a car lot at the very spot where he now grooms the town’s furry friends.

“I have always been a dog lover, and we just started going to the dog shows to watch, at first,” Rogers said. “We got in with professional handlers and just took it one step at a time. Me and my son showed for years. It has just always been something that is a part of my life. So, me doing the dog grooming is just another part of something I love.”

Rogers currently does grooming for up to 35 dogs a week, and he is prepared and fully eager to take on more. Rogers is welcoming the entirety of Princeton and surrounding communities to make use of his services.
