Owner Buys Her Pets a Bigger Bed but There's a Problem: 'Cuddle Puddle' - Newsweek

A trio of look-alike pet siblings from Minnesota kept cramping the same small bed so their owner bought them not one but three new ones. However, none of them understood the purpose of the multiple beds.

The poster, 29-year-old Hannah Fowler, told Newsweek that no matter the size or the location of the bed they always share the same one; and if they can't all fit, one of them will lay right next to it, usually putting their paw or head on the actual bed, disregarding all the other available empty options.

"Mo, orange tabby cat, is an animal hoarding house rescue who is 9 years old. Ronin, Labrador retriever, is 5 months old. Lincoln, a golden retriever, is 4 years old." The poster also has a 4-month-old rescue, Mochi, an orange tabby cat, adopted just over a week ago, who is already trying to fit in with the brothers.

"Mo is the glue that keeps this orange quad going. He is so unbelievably calm, affectionate, and tolerant," Fowler said. "He raised my two pups; I really mean he raised them. From Day One, he was hopping in their puppy pens, napping and playing with them. I'd take Mo out of the puppy pen, and he'd hop right back in!

"He has this crazy strong affinity for dogs. His daily goal is to spend as much time with them and get as close as he possibly can to them. You can see him inch closer and closer to the dogs until he is content with his position. He even does it while the dogs are playing, and it gets him in some interesting predicaments.

"The dogs grew up around it, so it doesn't bother them; they try their best to be gentle and not crash into him. They love having a cat in their squad," Fowler said.

In a viral clip shared on TikTok earlier in October, under the username @3orangebros, the three siblings, a Labrador retriever, Ronin; a golden retriever, Lincoln; and an orange cat, Mo, can be seen struggling to fit in the same small bed, laying almost on top of one another.

"People told me to get a bigger bed because sometimes they wouldn't all fit," reads layover text in the clip, as the posters shows the various messages from internet users begging her to get her pets a more spacious bed.

"So I got a bigger bed. In total—1 spare twin bed and 3 dog beds," the text continues in the clip, showing all of the pets' new beds. However, even though they are all allowed on the different beds, including the big one, they still chose to pile up all together on the same one, and they still use the small one sometimes. "Safe to say—they prefer each other over a big bed," the text continues.

Despite being historically portrayed as mortal enemies, social media proves that cats and dogs can actually be best of friends, just like Mo, Mochi, and their canine brothers in the clip. However, this doesn't usually happen overnight.

The key to kickstart their relationship in the best possible way is all in the introduction, which must be done gradually and mindfully, to ensure no pet feels emotionally distressed because of the arrival of a new one.

The Humane Society of the United States says that, when first introducing your cat to your pup or vice versa, the two should be kept separate for a while, and have everything they need, including food, water, toys, and their litter, in different areas of the house, far from each other.

Face-to-face meetings should be done in neutral areas of the house, and should be short and calm. Rewarding each pet with a treat will help turn this into a positive experience for them. These meeting sessions should be repeated daily, and must be entirely supervised, until you are sure the pets are comfortable with one another.

Get a bigger bed they said, so i did. Final results are in. #catdog #catanddog #bigdogbed #catcuddlingdog #petssharingthebed

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received almost 750,000 views and over 42,000 likes on the platform.

One user, 1012drmms, commented: "They just like to be together and cuddle. They like the small cozy bed."

Justlivinislandlife wrote: "My Doberman has 3 large orthopedic beds. She prefers to sleep on a tiny pillow."

MalvernGirl posted: "It's a cuddle puddle."

Jill Holyoak added: "When you buy your kids expensive presents and they want to play with the boxes."
